Yes this is my first cat. I learned how to sail in a 10ft
dingy about 5 years ago now. I always wanted to get a faster boat but did not
have the money as I was in school. I went to Australia a few years back and
rented a hobie 16 and fell in love with the idea of a catamaran. I had been
looking for the past couple of years and still found hobbies to be way over
priced. Then a week ago I came across my first Venture for sale at the side of
the road. I pulled over and talked to the guy for a bit about the boat. It
looked in great shape and the price was right so I came back to buy it a couple
of days later. That day (Aug 22, 09) I took it out for the first time.
Everything on the boat was in near perfect condition and the boat had been kept
indoors every winter since new. I will need to re finish the rudders over the
winter as they are a bit rough. Also the water tight compartments seal is gone.
The wind was light and I had to launch at a boat launch about 5 kms up the lake
from the cottage but the boat handled beautifully.
I can not wait for a little stronger wind to see how she goes.
